LG to inaugurate 2 day international seminar on Kashmir Shaivism today

JAMMU, Mar 16: Eminent scholars from India and abroad will participate in two days international seminar on “Kashmir Shaivism, Contribution of the lineage of Masters & Shaivacharya Swami Lakshmanjoo Maharaj in the spread and propagation of non-dual Kashmir Shaiva philosophy” which will begin at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, Jammu University campus, here tomorrow.
The seminar will be inaugurated by Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor, J&K UT which is being organized by the PG Department of Sanskrit, University of Jammu in collaboration with Kashmir Shaiva Institute (J&K).
This was revealed by Vijay Kumar Kaul, secretary, Kashmir Shaiva Institute while talking to media persons here. Kaul further revealed that Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, I.K. Raina, Chairman, Kashmir Shaiva Institute, Prof. Kamlesh Jha, Banaras Hindu University, Padmashree Prof. Visvamurt Shastri, George Barselaar, of Lakshmanjoo Academy, USA, Prof Sushma Devi, HOD Sanskrit and Prof Ram Bahadur Shuklatogether with other dignitaries will grace the occasion.
He said highly celebrated scholars with profound understanding of the mystic dimensions of Kashmir Shaivism drawn from across India and other parts of the world will be participating in the Seminar and talking at length over the formidable contributions great lineage of masters and sages have made to spread and propagate the philosophy of the Non–Dual School of Trika. In particular the significant contributions of the most recent and one of the greatest Shaivacharya-Swami Lakshmanjoo Maharaj, who was a rare jewel having a profound understanding of the philosophy and practices of Kashmir Shaivism, would be highlighted by the scholars present at the seminar, he added.
Kaul said a distinguished panel of highly luminous scholars will deliberate on the subject which included Dr. Madhav Lamichhanne from Nepal Sanskrit University, Dr. Jagir Singh, Pran Nath Koul from KSI and Shana Hughes from Lakshmanjoo Academy, USA. A large number of keen seekers and students, scholars, researchers, eminent citizens of the UT of J&K and from various parts of the country, several student scholars from the Department of Sanskrit, University of Jammu, Banaras Hindu University, SMVD University are expected to attend the two-day seminar.
