KARGIL, Sept 23: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, today inaugurated a Cancer Screening and Awareness Programme in Kargil, organised by Al Reza Health Care and Research Foundation in collaboration with Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital.
Speaking at the event, the LG stressed that timely prevention and early detection are key to fighting cancer and lauded Al Reza Health Care for its service to underprivileged communities.

He announced that a long-awaited MRI machine will soon be installed at District Hospital Kargil and said the administration is exploring the demand for a 200-bed hospital in the district.
The LG Ladakh appreciated the establishment of a satellite clinic and cancer screening facility by Al Reza Health Care and Yatharth Hospital, terming it a step towards improving access to specialised care within Ladakh.
He reiterated the UT administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure, expanding telemedicine, and ensuring equitable health services in remote areas.
Adding a community perspective, President Jamiat Ul Alam Isna Asharia Kargil Sheikh NAzir-ul-Mehdi expressed gratitude to the LG for gracing t he occasion and supporting initiatives aimed at improving public health in the region.
The programme was attended by senior officers, including DC Kargil Rakesh Kumar, SSP Kargil Shree Ram R, ADC Kargil, doctors from Yatharth Hospital, volunteers from Al Reza Health Care, and members of the civil society.
Earlier, the LG also visited former minister Qamar Ali Akhoon, enquired about his condition, and wished him a speedy recovery.
