SRINAGAR, Sept 12: General Officer Commanding (GOC) Srinagar based 15 Corps Lt Gen Subroto Saha today said the Army hasn’t given up its counter-militancy and counter-infiltration operations on the Line of Control (LoC) and other parts of the Valley notwithstanding deployment of maximum force in the operations to rescue people from floods.
Lt Gen Saha said the killing of three militants in Keran sector recently was an example that the Army hasn’t given up its operations against the militants.
“Our counter-militancy and counter-insurgency grid is intact. There is no leniency on that front despite putting maximum resources for welfare of flood affected people,’’ he added.
On flood situation, the GOC said it was improving. On first day, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired the meeting with just seven members. Today morning, the number has risen to 50. Slowly, the situation will be back to normal, he added.
