JAMMU, Sept 12: Calling upon both State and Central Governments to depute teams to assess losses in Poonch district, general secretary of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Yash Pal Sharma today demanded that essential commodities be dispatched to the remotest and in-assessable areas of Poonch and Rajouri districts.
He also asked the authorities to restore power and road connectivity in Poonch district. He regretted though the rain has stopped five days back but authorities have failed to restore power and road connectivity in Poonch district.
After visiting different areas of Poonch which were badly affected due to incessant rains and floods, Sharma said that the inhabitants of these areas were facing acute shortage of ration, drinking water, electricity and road connectivity. Besides, many people whose houses have been washed away in the flood are facing accommodation problem and they are compelled to sleep under open sky, he added.
He asked the Government to immediately supply ration to the suffering people and restore water as well as power supply at the earliest.
