Leopard captured, official injured

SAMBA, May 1: A team of Wildlife Department comprising personnel from Mansar and Kathua today captured a leopard from the Military area of Samba.
After getting information about a leopard spotted in the Army area, the wildlife team started rescue operation and the leopard attacked wildlife team, injuring one of the officials.
Upon hearing noises from other men, the leopard released the injured official and fled back toward the forest.
The leopard had ventured close to the family residential quarters within the military area, thereby escalating the potential danger.
The Wildlife team subsequently resumed the rescue operation and after strenuous efforts, the leopard was captured.
Army personnel also worked alongside the wildlife officials during the operation.
The wildlife official injured during the operation received preliminary treatment at the Army Hospital before being transferred to the District Hospital for further medical care.
The injured official was identified as Pawan Kumar and he was discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment.
Varinder Singh Salathia, Range Officer for Samba-Mansar Wildlife Range, stated that the leopard was safely captured and subsequently transported to the Manda Zoo.
