Leh hospital bags national level ‘Kayakalp’ award

JAMMU, Mar 16: Union Health Secretary DP Sharma, Additional Secretary and National Health Mission (NHM) Director, Government of India CK Mishra and Joint Secretary (Policy) Health Manoj Jehlani today awarded Sonam Narboo Hospital (SNH) Leh (the Government District Hospital) with `Kayakalp Award’.
The awards to best hospitals of the States and Union Territories were given by the Health Ministry, Government of India at a glittering function in New Delhi today. The hospitals for the awards were judged by high level teams of the Government of India.
The ‘Kayakalp Award’ for SNH Hospital, Leh was received by NHM Mission Director, J&K, Dr Mohan Singh, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Leh, Dr Yangchen Dolma and Medical Superintendent of the Hospital Dr Phungsuk Wangchuk.
The Central team lauded the staff of SNH Hospital Leh and the Mission Director NHM for fulfilling all formalities and topping the list in the `Kayakalp Award’ for Jammu and Kashmir.
The objective of `Kayakalp’ is to promote cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices in public healthcare facilities and to incentivize and recognize such public healthcare facilities that show exemplary performance in adhering to standard protocols of cleanliness and infection control.
