JAMMU, Nov 14: Legal awareness camps were organized by the Legal Services Committees at Doda, Reasi and Kargil.
At Doda, Chairman of Tehsil Legal Services Committee (Chief Judicial Magistrate), Rajeev Gupta conducted an awareness programme and activated the retainer lawyers and para-legal volunteers in reaching out to the schools to initiate awareness about child rights.
Literature concerning child rights was distributed among the management and teachers of schools.
The Tehsil Legal Services Committee has decided to organize seminars, debates and discussions involving children to make them aware about their rights.
In a communication to the administration of schools, Rajeev Gupta has requested them to include awareness about child rights in their calendar of activities and assured them all logistic support in this regard.
District and Tehsil Legal Authority, Reasi under the chairmanship of K S Parihar, Principal District and Sessions Judge organized a legal awareness camp in Government Middle School, Talwara which was attended by Jyoti Bhagat, Munsiff/JMIC Reasi and Advocate Shalinder Bhardwaj.
On the occasion, Mr Parihar threw light on free and compulsory education of children, Child Labour Act and Mid Day Meal etc.
Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Kargil headed by CJM Manjeet Rai organized legal awareness camp at Jaffariya Academy of Modern Education.
The topic of the awareness was Juvenile Justice and Child Rights. Ashok Kumar Shavan, Principal District and Sessions Judge was the chief guest on the occasion.
Mr Shavan highlighted the concept of legal aid and emphasized the children and students to know right rights enshrined in the Constitution.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Punchok Angmoo, Special Mobile Magistrate Batalik, Advocates Shahnawaz Ali and Zahid Hussain, Tsering Phunchok, Senior Prosecuting Officer.
The anchor of the programme was Talib Hussain, Secretary Bar Association Kargil. Ghulam Murtaza, Senior Advocate presented vote of thanks.
