JAMMU, Dec 1: Muzaffarabad (PoK) Refugees Welfare Society (Punjab), while expressing gratitude on the decision of Central Government for releasing Rs 2000 crore package for the DPs of 1947 and DPs of 1965 and 1971 for 36384 families residing in Jammu only, has strongly condemn this wrong decision of the Government without including the 5300 DPs residing in other States of the country.
In a press statement the Society members said that they have been taking up the matter with all the concerned quarters but no positive result has been witnessed. This announcement of the Cabinet has assured the 5300 DPs residing in other States that they have no option left than to seek justice from the courts, although it shall be more painful than the displacement from their native land in POJK in 1947 to still stand in the courts for justice.
Then for what the time and money was wasted on formation of Department -Related Parliamentary Standing Committee headed by a chairman ,10 Rajya Sabha members and 31 Lok Sabba members and five senior most Secretaries. The Committee has clearly mentioned at page No. 31 of the Report 183, “The committee was informed by the Ministry of Home Affairs that as per the available records 31,619 families were registered with the Registration Organization, out of which 26319 families opted to settle down within the State itself and 5300 families settled outside the State of J&K (Delhi 1901 families, Maharashtra 123 families, Rajasthan 495 families and other States 2781 families) ….”
By adding 10,065 DPs of Chhamb 1965-1971, the number goes to 41,684 instead of 36384. ” We demand sincere efforts from all the law abiding agencies , organizations and social organizations to get included the 5300 DPs residing throughout the country. We also urge upon the PM Narendra Modi, to get this mistake corrected by the concerned authorities and provide the relief to the excluded families,” they maintained.
