Leave revocation of 370 to people: BJP

SRINAGAR, Nov 16: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said that the people of the State will decide the fate of the Article 370 that gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Reacting to apprehensions that BJP may abrogate Article 370, the party today said it would only do what the people of State want with regard to the provision of the Constitution that grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
The BJP party’s in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir, Avinash Rai Khanna, while replying a question about the abrogation of Article 370 told reporters:”On this issue everyone, from our Prime Minister to our spokespersons, has clarified… I want to assure you that BJP will do only what the people desire.”
Khanna in his reply to a question about NC president Farooq Abdullah expressing his worry that the BJP has a sinister plan to abrogate the Article 370 which will lead to massive unrest, said: “The leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir are trying to build an atmosphere of apprehensions over the issue”.
On BJP’s roping in of former separatist, Sajjad Lone’s, the BJP leader said: “We should be happy if the minds of such people have changed”. He was responding to Abdullah’s criticism of BJP’s attempts to rope in separatist leader Sajad Lone.
Earlier, in order to be closer to the city Centre, Khanna and State media head of the BJP, Arun Kumar Gupta, inaugurated party’s media war room at Pamposh Hotel in Regal Chowk today.
Khanna after inaugurating the media war room said that it would act as a bridge between the party leaders and the press. “We believe in transparency and our party wants to ensure that all the programs announced by the party leadership reach the masses”, he said.
The media war room would be headed by the party spokesman Khalid Jehangir and he would be assisted by the other party leaders, including Ali Mohammad Mir, Darakshan Andrabi and Dr Rafi .
Top BJP leaders from the State, including Dr Ali, Altaf Thakur, attended the inaugural function and hoped that setting up of the media war room would help the party in achieving its Mission 44 plus in Jammu and Kashmir.
