JAMMU, Dec 7: A three- day Leadership and Life Skills Workshop, organized by NDF J&K, Jammu in collaboration ICPS Directorate with the support of European Union, concluded here today.
Representatives of 30 children groups of Jammu, Samba & Poonch participated in the workshop. BDC Chairperson / Sarpanches/Chairpersons of the Child Protection Committees of the target villages also attended the valedictory session of the workshop. Vikramjeet Sinha, Shwetank Mishra and Neha Gandotra were the main Resources persons in the workshop.
Jugal Kishore, MP Jammu-Poonch Constituency, was the chief guest in the valedictory function whereas Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor JMC, presided over the function. Sham Lal Sharma, former Minister, Vibodh Gupta, former MLC and Suran Singh, SP Rural Jammu, participated as the guest of honour. Shalini Sharma, Chairpe-rson CWC Jammu was also present on the occasion.
Rajiv Khajuria, founder Emeritus National Development Foundation gave a brief introduction of the workshop and informed that children were introduced to leadership and decision making.
MP Jugal Kishore Sharma assured the children that he will look into charter of demands presented by the children and will issue instructions to the concerned departments for redressal of the issues raised by the children.
Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta invited NDF to interact with Social Justice Committee of the JMC and desired to form children group and child protection committees in all the wards of JMC. He asked the ICPS department and NDF to facilitate the process.
Former minister Sham Lal Sharma gave leaderships tips to the children and asked them to struggle in their lives with full confidence and nobody can stop them in achieving success. While referring to the child labour & child marriage , he asked the children and communities to inform police on 100, childline on 1098 and CWC to ensure that no such social evil is allowed to penetrate in our society.
Vibodh Gupta appealed the children and communities to understand the Central Government schemes and ensure that they are implemented in their respective villages.
SP Suran Singh gave a detailed lecture on drug abuse and the role of children, civil society and Panchayats to curb it. He reiterated the resolve of J&K Police for having a drug free J&K where children and youth are engaged in sports and development activities and everyone says “No to drugs and yes to healthy life”.
