A complete shutdown has been observed by District Bar Association Kathua led by its President Advocate Ajat Shatru Sharma in support of J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu on the issue of transfer of Registration powers under Registration Act 1908.
To intensify their agitation, the members of the District Bar Association Kathua continued their hunger strike in the premises of District and Sessions Court Kathua on the similar pattern of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu.
The members also in one voice agitated against the wrong executive decision of J&K UT Government for transferring the registration powers to the already overburdened revenue officers.
The Advocates who sat on hunger strike today were Advocate Harinder Singh alias Naveen Choudhary, Advocate Devinder Singh, Advocate Pardeep Singh, Advocate Vikas Kant Gupta and Advocate Sumreshwar Singh.
While addressing the media persons, President of the Bar Association Advocate Ajat Shatru Sharma lambasted on certain vested interest persons who wanted to brand the ongoing agitation of lawyers of Jammu to be the outcome of revocation of article 370 which is totally false propaganda just to mislead to general public and Center Government. “Lawyers of Jammu Province always welcomed the step of BJP Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi”, he added.
He warned the UT Government not to provoke the lawyers of Jammu Province to intensify their agitation which can create the law and order problem in the Jammu Province which the Government could not justify altogether. “If force is used to crush the voices of nationalist people of Jammu Province then BJP has to pay the heavy penalty for this including sitting MPs for years together”, he added.
He said that the people of Jammu are expecting necessary aspirations from center Government after the removal of Article 370 and promulgation of central laws in J&K UT in the shape of Domicile Status on the pattern of Himachal Pradesh and roll back of transfer of registration powers back to judicial officers.
Among others present were Advocate Anminder Salathia, Advocate Rahul Sharma, Advocate Atul Andotra, Advocate Deepak Sharma and Advocate Anil Singh etc.
