LC Panel directs CA&PD to ensure 100 % LPG home delivery

JAMMU, Dec 24: The Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC)-II of Legislative Council today directed the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department to ensure hundred percent home delivery of LPG in the state.
The Committee issued the directions during a meeting held here today to discuss and examine the Rules, Regulations and Act in respect of CA&PD Department, with MLC, Vijay Bakaya in the chair.
Legislators, Ravinder Kumar Sharma and Jehangir Hussain Mir who were also present in the meeting, gave their valuable suggestions for further improvement in the distribution system in the CA&PD.
The Committee directed the authorities to ensure ration supply to the consumers, especially to Nomad, Gujjar, Bakerwal and other backward population of the State. It also directed for proper monitoring of home delivery system in Jammu and Srinagar cities as well as in other areas of the State.
The Committee directed the CA&PD Department to ensure adequate ration supply to the Kashmiri Migrants living in camps, especially in Jagti Township, Nagrota besides stressed for opening of more Fair Price Shops/Ration depots in Kashmiri Pandit migrant colonies.
The Committee held threadbare discussion on various other issues concerning to the consumers.
It also stressed the need for comprehensive   policy for Public Distribution System, besides lifting of PDS food grains from   FCI and private agencies, present status of distribution and supply of subsidized LPG Cylinders, opening of new LPG Gas cylinder distribution agencies which were proposed to be done by the department.
On the occasion, Secretary, CA&PD, Mohammad Abass briefed the Committee about the activities of the department.
Director, CA&PD, G S Chib, Additional Secretary, Legislative Council, Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, Additional Secretary, CA&PD, Ramesh Chander, FA/CAO, CA&PD, Rajesh Talwar, besides other senior officers and officials of concerned department and Council Secretariat also attended the meeting.
