NEW DELHI, May 1: Chairman Haji Inayat Ali and Deputy Chairman Jahangir Hussain Mir of the J&K Legislative Council today met President of India Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhawan here
The Chairman and Deputy Chairman apprised the President of India about the J&K Legislative Council proceedings especially those conducted during the Budget Session-2015.
The President congratulated the Chairman and Deputy Chairman for their appointment and advised them to conduct the proceedings of the House in an efficient and effective manner. He also advised them to provide equal opportunity to all the legislators of the Legislative Council so that the important public issues are raised in the House.
The President described Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as a visionary leader and an astute political personality.
They also met Vice President of India, Hamid Ansari and Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Sumitra Mahajan.
Among other important issues, the presiding officers apprised the Vice President of India and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha regarding the procedure in the J&K State Legislative Council.
Vice President and Speaker were requested to direct the concerned to impart the training to the newly elected legislators of the State legislature. Both the presiding officers also watched the proceedings of the Lok Sabha.
