KARGIL, Nov 7: Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), Zanskar (Kargil) has rejected the statements of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration and Kargil Democratic Alliance for restoring pre- August 5, 2019 status of the UT of Ladakh.
“We the people of Zanskar and other minority population in Kargil district strongly oppose the recent visit of the delegation of the so-called People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) to Kargil and their irrelevant statements made there against the August 5, 2019 Reorganization Bill,” said Tsewang Chostar, president LBA, in a letter addressed to LG of Ladakh, Radha Krishan Mathur.
Chostar said, in his letter, that the people of Zanskar and the entire Buddhist community in Kargil district sincerely and earnestly welcome the historic decision of the Union Government in granting their long outstanding demand for which the gratitude of the present Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is inexpressible.
The LBA president said that the statement from the so-called Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) can’t be the voice of all the people of Kargil district and Buddhist community do not and will not endorse such unconstitutional and unacceptable statements of restoring the pre-August 5, 2019 status of the UT of Ladakh.
“As such we earnestly request you to not to consider the statements of few self interested people as the common voices and concern of whole Kargil district,” the LBA president said in the letter.
Earlie, a meeting of all stakeholders of Zanskar was organized under the chairmanship of the LBA president at Zanskar Saral Leh wherein they resolved to oppose the statements of KDA and PAGD on J&K Reorganization Bill 2019 and welcome the Central Government’s decision of August 5, 2019.
The meeting was attended by Lama Chospail Zotpa, former Vice Chairman, SC/ST Commission of Government of India (GoI), Lala Urgain Dorjay, Zanskar Gompa Association president, Stanzin Lakpa (Councillor), Chospail, Nambar Association president, Tsering Phunchok, Zanskar Welfare Association Leh president, Chhering Tundup andTsering Dorjay, vice president, LBA Kargil, Mulbek.
