Lawyers abstain from work, hold protest in support of demands

JAMMU, July 18: J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu under the leadership of its President M K Bhardwaj held a strong protest in the District Court Complex in support of long pending demands.
The Bar members also abstained from work in all the courts including High Court, District Courts, Tribunals and Commissions on account of the protest.

The construction of multi storey building for housing all the judicial work—Registration work, CAT, DRT, AFT and other Tribunals within the court premises was the main demand of the Bar Association.
Addressing the protesting lawyers, Bar President urged upon the Government to immediately resolve all the demands /issues of the legal fraternity of UT of J&K so as to give relief to them as well as civil society.
“In the event of failure to do the needful, the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, shall have no other option except to launch an agitation in support of their demands”, he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that the JKHCBA had been continuously agitating over their grievances before various officials of UT Administration but till date not even a single demand has been redressed. Besides this, even other issues which are concerned with the legal fraternity are required to be dealt with at the earliest.
All the office bearers namely Mohinder Pal Singh Pali, Vice President, Surjeet Singh Andotra, General Secretary, Aditya Sharma, Joint Secretary, Amandeep Singh, Treasurer, Rohit Sharma (YLA President), Gagandeep Singh Lucky (YLA Vice President), Yaseer Farooq Khan (YLA General Secretary), Karanjeet Singh Johal (YLA Joint Secretary), Naresh Kumar (YLA Treasurer) besides many senior and young lawyers participated in the protest in support of their long pending demands.
