JAMMU, Sept 13: Raqs-e-Aks, an Urdu poetic trans by the Jammu University’s Law School alumni, Advocate Aqib Shah, was released here today.
Raqs-e-Aks comes with a contemporary flair, touching a common man’s intuitions in India, satire based couplets on politics and existing trends of mass-governance, poverty, social-inequality, casteism, communalism, couplets cherishing motherly warmth, intimate relations and perfectly synchronized rainbow of love with trust, betrayal, exile and eternal bliss, all making their mark, contributing to oceanic depth of the phenomenon called “Ghazal”. The book is with English transliteration, which makes it equally relevant and worth reading for English and Hindi readers.
The event was attended by Dean Law, Professor Arvind Jasrotia; Director, The Law School, Dr Sanjay Gupta and Law faculty.
Prof Jasrotia, in his address, appreciated Aqib for having been able to pursue his instinctive passions along with his profession very successfully. Dr Sanjay Gupta introduced the luminous to the students by highlighting his artistic acumen. Dr Monica Narang presented the vote of thanks. Dr Seema Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
The book Raqs-e-Aks has Persian title, which means ‘the dance of shadows’. Aquib Shah’s upcoming artistic projects include English novels, multilingual singing albums, abstract paintings and spoken word albums. His book titled “That Mayhem” is expected to hit the stands later this year. It is an English book of fiction, poetry, tales and quotes.
In August, 2013, Aqib Shah’s first ever book Sada-e-Haq was released by the then Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar.
