JAMMU, Mar 12: In order to give boost to the Clean and Green Jammu drive, the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, (JMC) Avny Lavasa today conducted tour of Ward No. 50, 51 and 53 to take stock of the areas viz. Channi Himmat, Channi Rama and Trikuta Nagar, Jammu along with councilors Raj Kumar, Neena Gupta and Jyoti Devi for starting the facility of door to door collection of garbage in these wards and also to eradicate the menace of open collection points for which on spot directions were issued to Health Officer.
During the tour, the Commissioner, JMC issued directions to Health Officer to issue notices to the owners of the open plots to construct boundary walls of their respective plots so that nuisance of open throwing of garbage can be stopped and also to stop open defecation. She also issued directions to Chief Transport Officer for proper de-silting of drains etc. Besides, thermal fogging in Secretariat, Bus Stand, New Plot, Railway Station, RTO Office, Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar with Na hypochlorite spray was also done.
The residents of the wards assured that they will provide full cooperation to Jammu Municipal Corporation for maintaining sanitation upto to the satisfactory level.
The Commissioner appealed the general public to come forward and join hands with Jammu Municipal Corporation so that the aim of Swachh Bharat can be achieved and assured the citizens of the city that no stone will be left unturned in providing better sanitation facilities.
Among others Dr. Shamim Mir, Health Officer, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Municipal Veterinary Officer and Talat Mehmood Khan, Chief Transport Officer accompanied the Commissioner, JMC during the tour.
