Latti delegation takes up Degree College issue with CM

JAMMU, Aug 7: Latti Develo-pment Committee (LDC) delegation called on the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and urged upon her  to fulfill the promise of  Late Mufti Mohd Sayeed to establish Degree College at Latti tehsil headquarters.
The delegation led by chairman of the LDC,  Kasturi Lal Gupta, which met the Chief Minister the other day in Srinagar, strongly demanded that Latti which is about 56 kms from Chenani and 85 kms from Udhampur, having four to five feeding Higher Secondary Schools,  deserves a Degree college.  They said that an average  500 students of Class 12th pass out every year from these Higher Secondary Schools. Moreover,  Chenani where MLA has been stressing for the College,  is  closer to Udhampur  where two degree colleges are available. The travel time from Chenani to Udhampur is hardly 20 minutes, while Chenani is  about 75 kms from Dudu, 70 kms from Jakhed and 56 kms from Latti.
They further reminded the Chief Minister that during 2012 in a PDP rally at Latti, Late Mufti Mohd Sayeed had promised the people of Latti that he will sanction  Degree College at Latti if his Government comes to power. Now,  when the PDP-BJP Govt is in power, it is pleaded to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to fulfill the promise of her Late father. They said even she herself had declared  on the floor of the Assembly House at Jammu that Latti should be given Degree college.
The Members pointed out that students from Latti, Dudu, Kirchi, Marothi, Jakhed,  Basant-garh, Pattangarh, Mantalai and Sudhmahadev will be benefitted with this college.  They said that Latti is centrally located  and is most suitable and ideal place for college in this remote belt of district Udhampur. Moreover, Latti is the oldest Higher Secondary School upgraded in 1986 in the area.
The CM when asked about the availability of land for  the college, Gupta said that they have identified 120 kanals of land for the college at  Sarota village which is centrally located between Latti-Jakhed and Dudu, more over, it is most suitable for people of Pattangarh. The Chief Minister gave patient hearing and assured the delegation to set up Pahari Degree College at Latti at the earliest. They also appealed the Chief Minister to upgrade Chenani-Latti-Dudu road and promote tourism in this most beautiful and picturesque area of district Udhampur. The CM also accepted the invitation of the delegation to visit Latti-Dudu and organize rallies  there.
Prominent among those who accompanied the delegation included Ashok Kumar,  Akhtar Hussain (Ex-Sarpanch), K L Gupta, Abdul Rashid, Raj Mohd, Raj Kumar Gupta, Khalid Hussain Malik, Mohd Rafiq, Waseem Malik and others.
