SRINAGAR: Thousands of people from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir offered today Fateha to late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at Bijbehara in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on his Chaharum (4th day).
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti in black dress was seen in tears offering fateha to her father at the grave yard at Dara Shikoh park, about 50 km from here in south Kashmir.
The railway has announced that it has operated six additional trains for people to reach Anantnag and offer fateha to the late leader.
Unprecedented security arrangements had been made in and around the park, where Sayeed was laid to rest on January 7 evening following his death in the morning in AIIMS, New Delhi.
Reports said that since early this morning people from different parts of the valley and Jammu region visited the park and offered fateha to Mr Sayeed. Besides Mehbooba large number of PDP leaders, legislators and leaders of other parties offered fateha to Sayeed.
Ms Mehbooba and other PDP leaders have returned here, where a condolence meeting will be held at 1400 hrs at Fairview Gupkar, official residence of Sayeed.
Meanwhile, unprecedented security arrangements had been made at Gupkar, where the main road has been closed for any traffic movement.
Though VIP vehicles are being allowed, they have to park their vehicles at a distance for security reasons. (agencies)
