JAMMU, Jan 21: An advanced Laparoscopic surgery (Laparoscopic Orchidopexy) was successfully performed in Government Hospital, Sarwal on a 6-year-old child suffering from Left Undescended testis (non palpable).
The surgery was done by a team of doctors comprising Dr Rajnish Kumar (Paediatric Surgeon), Dr Arun Arora, Dr Sindhoor Singh, Dr Neeru (Anaesthetist), besides Rajinder Bhagat, nurse Sunita and other theatre technicians with active support of Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr Rajiv Sharma.
The patient was diagnosed with absent left testis and empty scrotum on left side. The testis was non-palpable and ultra-sonography was also unable to locate it. On conducting diagnostic laparoscopy, the testis was found in the abdomen.
Finally Laparoscopic Orchidopexy was done i.e. testis was brought to the scrotum laparoscopically. This is a rare procedure and requires utmost skill and technical expertise. The patient remained comfortable and pain free after surgery and was discharged after 24 hours.
