JAMMU, Apr 21: Laparoscopic right extended colectomy for colonic mass was performed successfully at Ankur Maitrika Hospital.
A 65-year-old patient with complaint of abdominal pain was admitted in Ankur Maitrika Hospital. On evaluation, he was found to have a malignant tumor in the middle part of the large intestine (mid transverse colon).
The patient was planned for diagnostic lap followed by laparoscopic right extended colectomy which is a complex procedure and merits extreme laparoscopic skills and expertise.
The surgery was performed successfully and the patient was discharged on 5th post operative day in stable and satisfactory state. The surgical team comprised of Dr Sandeep Bhat (laparoscopic/gastrointestinal cancer surgeon), Satpal, Ranjit and team. The anaesthesia team was headed by Dr Rohit Gupta.
Pertinent to mention here that Dr Bhat is a trained laparoscopic/GI cancer surgeon from Medanta Gurgaon and has been performing advanced laparoscopic cancer procedures successfully for a decade or so.
