JAMMU, Mar 21: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of senior IAS officer Raghav Langer as the Secretary of the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Langer, a 2009 batch IAS officer from the Uttarakhand cadre, will serve in this position at the Joint Secretary level under the Department of Health & Family Welfare.
As per an order, his tenure is set for a combined period of seven years, until October 3, 2025, or until further orders, whichever comes first.
Langer has previously held key administrative roles in Jammu and Kashmir, including Divisional Commissioner Jammu, and Commissioner Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring Department.
In a separate development, senior IAS officer Sushma Chauhan, also a 2009 batch IAS officer from the J&K-AGMUT cadre, has been promoted to the role of Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Chauhan, who has served in various important positions in Jammu and Kashmir, including as Deputy Commissioner of Jammu, was serving as Director in the MHA before her elevation to the current role.
