Landslides disrupt traffic on NH, Mughal Road

JAMMU, July 20: The traffic on Mughal Road was disrupted for several hours due to landslides, triggered by rains today while Jammu-Srinagar highway was cleared after it was blocked for over five hours near Ramban during this afternoon.

Official sources said that due to heavy rain  and land slides at two places at Digdol near Ramban at around 1.30 pm, the traffic on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was suspended. The agency maintaining the highway pressed the machines into service to clear the road. The traffic was restored at around 6.45 pm. A private cab while passing through Digdole suffered minor damage however, the passengers escaped unhurt. A large number of vehicles remained stranded for hours. Some Yatra vehicles were also stranded due to land slides.
Traffic on the Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region, was suspended due to landslides, triggered by rain at Dobjan Zaznar. However, the authorities immediately put into service the machines and men and cleared the debris.
