JAMMU, Feb 21: A land dispute between two groups in village Pindi Charak in the Arnia sector turned violent today, creating tension in the area.
According to reports, the clash occurred when one party, including Subhash Goswami and others, went to pay obeisance at a Devsthan situated on a piece of land over which both groups have been claiming ownership. As they reached the spot, members of the rival group, including men and women, allegedly attacked them, leading to a scuffle and injuries. Click here to watch video
Local residents informed the police, following which the concerned Tehsildar and the Station House Officer (SHO) rushed to the village to take stock of the situation. The officials intervened promptly, pacified both sides and ensured that the law and order situation remained under control. They also appealed to the parties to maintain peace and resolve the matter through legal means.
The revenue and police authorities stated that the dispute is already under consideration and further action will be taken strictly in accordance with the law and the directions of the court.
