JAMMU, July 19: MP, Jugal Kishore Sharma today demanded compensation for the farmers for their agricultural land ahead of the border fence.
Speaking in Lok Sabha during the ongoing session of Parliament, the MP said that people living at Indo-Pak border right from Samba to Poonch have their land ahead of border fence which was the only source of their income.
“They used to cultivate the land but due to security reasons they are not being allowed to do so and the land beyond fence being remained uncultivated has become forest,” he said.
Sharma further said that farmers living at the border areas are now leading a difficult life with no other source of income.
“These are brave people like army personnel living at the border facing bullets bravely in difficult times,” the MP maintained urging the Union Government to compensate these farmers for their agricultural land located ahead of the fence.
