JAMMU, Aug 26: The people from Lam, Ladoka and Pukharni area in Nowshera Sub Division today sat on hunger strike at Tehsil office complex in Nowshera town here today.
Total 11 members today sat on hunger strike on the first day of their relay hunger strike. A large number of people from these villages also joint them. These villagers are demanding tehsil status for Lam- Ladoka. They alleged that despite clearance by the State Committee, the area was denied tehsil status. They alleged that Qila Darhal was accorded tehsil status by ignoring Lam Ladoka.
The people have raised a tent and people garlanded the people sitting on hunger strike. They also raised slogans in support of their demand during protest demonstration in the morning, followed by day long dharna. Tomorrow the second batch would replace the hunger strike.
It is pertinent to mention here that on August 15 these villagers had observed black day and a two day bandh was also organised at Nowshera which was joined by people from Beri Pattan who wanted to remain with Nowshera Sub Division and not with the new Sunderbani Sub Division.
