Kathua, June 3: In order to listen the problems and grievances of the people, Member Parliament Udhampur-Doda Constituency Choudhary Lal Singh convened a public darbar here today.
The Sarpanchs and Panchs from Kandi areas demanded for early release of BPL survey list and also complaint that thousand of applications for oldage pension and widow pension are lying with the Social Welfare Department which are awaiting approval.
Other demands included early grant of pensions to the poor and needy people, better road connectivity, upgradation of various Government schools, installation of hand pumps and electric poles at various location, etc.
Sarpanch Jakhole demanded adequate drinking water supply and demanded installation of hand pumps and separate power supply feeder in the area.
While addressing the people, Choudhary Lal Singh said that 73rd and 74th Amendments will be implemented in the State to empower the panchayats to work for the welfare and development of rural areas. He said that elections for Block Samities and Zila Parishad will be held soon.
He said that UPA Government at the centre is committed to the progress and development of the country for which several programme and schemes like MGNREGA, NRHM, IAY, RAMSA etc have been launched.
He appealed the people to come forward to take the benefit of all these schemes. He asked the Sarpanchs and Panchs to identify the problems of the people of their areas and work for their redressal.
