JAMMU, Apr 13: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Ch Lal Singh today said the Government is working on a comprehensive plan to upgrade the health infrastructure in a phased manner. He said the department has set some new benchmarks during the past one month and the tangible transformation is being duly acknowledged by the masses.
The Minister was speaking at a function organised by All India Homeopathic Association, J&K branch here today.
The Minister said that Government has evolved an effective mechanism to ensure improved medicare facilities in the State, adding that all the healthcare institutions especially in rural and far-off pockets are being equipped with advanced diagnostic and other facilities besides adequate staff. He asked the medical fraternity to follow medical ethics code in delivering the healthcare facilities to the people.
Ch Lal Singh said that focus is being laid on strengthening the existing health institutions including laboratories and emergency wards to ensure best possible healthcare facilities. He said instructions have been issued for deployment of atleast 20 pharmacists, one ambulance driver and two doctors in the hospital in far-off areas during night duty so that the people do not face any inconvenience. He said directions have been issued to medical and paramedical staff to remain present within the jurisdiction of 13 KMs from the hospital so that their services could be utilised in emergency cases.
The Minister appealed the people to avoid admission in private clinics and get treatment in Government hospitals. He said Government is committed to provide best possible healthcare facilities including medicines at the hospitals. He said every hospital of far-off area has been upgraded at par with the city hospitals. He asked the medical fraternity to focus more on serving in the public hospitals and avoid private practice.
Ch Lal Singh said the Government is planning to provide 25% promotion quota to qualified Safai Karamcharies of Health and Medical Education departments under norms and existing strength.
The Minister informed that directions have been issued to the Health and Medical Education Departments to supply quality medicines to the patients. He said Government is planning to establish Drug Testing Laboratory near Lakhanpur to prevent entry of substandard drugs in the State.
