Lakhanpur police rescues 10 animals

KATHUA, Oct 28: Kathua police launched a manhunt under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal against bovine smuggling and rescued 10 animals and seized one vehicle (Truck) in Maggar Khad area falling under the jurisdiction of Lakhanpur Police Station (PS) near here, today.
Police said a team led by Inspector, Vijay Kotwal, SHO PS Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP, DAR, Kathua, Sukhdev Singh during special Naka/checking duty in its jurisdictional area at Maggar Khad noticed one suspicious vehicle (Truck) bearing Registration Number JK02W-0975 which was being driven by an unknown person who was enrouted from Punjab side towards Kashmir Valley. As the truck was signaled to stop for checking the driver of vehicle managed to fled away from spot.
Police said during the checking, team rescued 10 bovines ( 08 cows and 02 oxen ) from the vehicle. An instant case vide FIR No. 91/2022 U/S 188/IPC 11 PCA has been registered at PS Lakhanpur and further investigation is going on.
