Lakhanpur police recovers 25 bovine animals, seizes truck

KATHUA, Apr 13: Lakhanpur police today foiled two attempts of bovine smuggling and recovered 25 bovine animals at two different places in the area.
As per reports 14 bovine animals which were being smuggled from Punjab to Jammu were recovered by Lakhanpur Police in Ravi basin early this morning after the truck bearing number PB 06H8585 which was carrying the animals got stuck in a slushy area.
The truck did not move despite the hard efforts of the driver from the place. In the meantime Lakhanpur Police received an information that a truck carrying 14 bovine animals has got stuck in a slushy area, the police swung into action and seized the truck. It recovered all the 14 bovine animals which were lying in it. However the inmates of truck managed to flee. A case has been registered under relevant Sections of law.
In another bovine smuggling case Lakhanpur Police arrested one person identified as Qasim –ud-Din at Basantpur who was carrying bovine animals to Punjab by foot.
The police seized all the 11 animals and has registered a case under relevant Sections of law against him.
