LEH, Nov 1: Ladakh Hill Development Council Leh hosted a courtesy meeting with Radha Krishna Mathur, welcoming him as the first Lt Governor of Ladakh.
MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Commissioner Secretary Rigzin Samphel and DC/CEO, LAHDC, Leh Sachin Kumar were also present on the occasion.
Mr Mathur, giving full assurance to take Council along, said that the developmental processes will be considerably improved with much greater ease in implementations of schemes and policies as now the power has been shifted from Srinagar to Ladakh. He expressed strong hope that under UT, Ladakh will achieve the dream it always wished for.
At the same time, he urged all stakeholders to come together to work on solutions for certain issues that are being raised at local level such as land, environment, employment and outside influences and gear up for challenges lying ahead in for everybody to prove to the world that Ladakh deserves what it has achieved.
In the new governance structure, he reiterated that the role of Hill Council is critical and hence the new system will always involve Leh and Kargil Hill Councils in decision making processes. Soon financial packages will be announced, he said adding that funds should be efficiently and judiciously used ensuring that proper auditing is marinated at every level of expenses.
He stressed upon thorough understanding about the local peculiarities and distinct features of Ladakh in presenting the region to the outside world. He referred to Ranjeet Singh, a reputed Civil Servant formerly served in highest capacities, who in his talk in Ladakh Literature Festival told about rare species of butterflies and mammals in Ladakh. In every sector, he cautioned for every care and dedication in delivering the services for better Ladakh.
Speaking on the occasion, CEC said that to ensure development in a better way in UT Ladakh there is need to maintain a good relationship between Administration and Hill Council. He urged the LG to take everyone together in ensuring smooth functioning of UT of Ladakh and proper utilisation of money with increased funds flow in coming times. Hill Council also invited the Lt Governor to be the chief guest on the occasion of 4th dPal-rNam-Duston.
