KATHUA, Jan 18: A newly wedded lady died in a road mishap near Lakhanpur today. She has been identified as Rita Devi, wife of Amarjit Singh of Khrot, Kathua.
As per reports, the lady was traveling on a bike driven by her husband and after reaching on Old Toll Plaza in Lakhanpur a rashly driven truck bearing Registration Number PB 13, AR 6404 which was on its way from Jammu to Pathankot hit the motorcycle from behind with the result the lady received serious injuries. She was rushed to the District Hospital, Kathua where she succumbed to her injuries. Her husband Amarjit Singh was also injured in the accident but he is out of danger.
The dead body was handed over to family by Lakhanpur Police after autopsy at DH Kathua. The Lakhanpur police has registered a case in this regard under Section 279/337 /304 IPC and started investigation. The truck fled after the accident.
