JAMMU, Feb 21: Three persons including a lady were arrested on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway along with 6 kilograms of cannabis.
As per police sources, during patrolling a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station led by SHO Inspector Rajesh Khajuria intercepted a woman, who was moving under suspicious circumstances near Rani Talab (Kala Jhad) on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
During checking, police team recovered cannabis from the possession of the lady and arrested her.
The arrested lady has been identified as Kousar Bano, wife of Altaf Bhat, a resident of Christian Colony, New Plot Jammu. Scotty bearing registration Number JK02CJ-9454 and driven by the lady was seized on the spot.
During questioning, the lady disclosed that she purchased the consignment from two persons boarding the Maruti car bearing registration number JK03A-0393.
Acting on the information, the police team intercepted the Maruti car and recovered four more packets of cannabis which were concealed in doors of the car. The total quantity of cannabis recovered from the trio was 6 kilograms viz Rs 22,000 cash.
Police team also arrested two persons traveling in the car and were identified as Azad Ahmed Dar, son of Mohammad Rajab Dar and Nazir Ahmed Mantoo, son of Ghulam Rasool Mantoo, both residents of Bachroo, District Kulgam.
A case under FIR Number 46/2020 under Section 8/20/25/29 has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Sharma.
