JAMMU, Feb 15: Ladies Club members of Zanana Park near Civil Secretariat Jammu are being harassed by the Department of Floriculture as latter is undertaking the construction and renovation of Ladies Club building for their own use.
This was stated by President of Ladies Club Zanana Park Vijay Gandotra, while interacting with media persons here today.
She stated that to improve their efficiency the Department of Floriculture Jammu is undertaking the construction and renovation of Ladies Club building at Zanana Park Jammu for their own use thereby causing harassment to women folk in respect of the activities like cultural programme, yoga, kitties, etc which are in vogue since its inception during 1932.
“The Zanana Park was exclusively laid for use by the women folk by the then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and accordingly men folk were not allowed to visit this park for recreation or other activities”, Gandotra informed.
She further stated that the intrusion of Floriculture Department for construction of building for their use shall definitely be out of norms as men folk will have an easy access to the park in view of security risk and traffic chaos.
“The Department of Floriculture is maintaining almost all the parks in Jammu city and accordingly can shift their venue easily accessible for public of all groups. The matter stands already referred to the Government and directions for immediate stop of work and shifting of venue to some other park are awaited”, President of Ladies Club Zanana Park Vijay Gandotra added.
