Ladakhi film ‘Dutpa (The Knot)’ reaches grand finale of Zee Short Film Contest 2026

LEH, June 5: In a significant achievement for Ladakh’s filmmaking community, Dutpa (The Knot), a short film based on the theme of urban migration today reached the Grand Finale of the Zee Short Film Contest Mumbai 2026.
The film has secured a place among the final 20 entries, selected from nearly 2,000 submissions from across the country, marking a major milestone for regional cinema from the Union Territory.
The filmmakers described the accomplishment as a proud moment not only for the team behind the film but also for the entire filmmaking fraternity of Ladakh, including both Leh and Kargil districts.
What makes the achievement particularly noteworthy is that Dutpa (The Knot) has been created entirely by a local Ladakhi team.
The director, cinematographer, editor, music director, actors, technicians and all crew members associated with the project belong to Ladakh, reflecting the region’s growing creative potential.
The team expressed hope that this recognition would open new avenues for Ladakhi cinema and inspire young filmmakers to bring their stories to larger national platforms.
They emphasized that the film represents their commitment to showcasing Ladakh’s culture, traditions and way of life through meaningful and impactful storytelling.
The filmmakers also extended their gratitude to the actors, crew members, supporters, well-wishers, friends and family who contributed to the project and supported them throughout the journey.
The film has been produced by Tashi Dawa of SV Production and Tsering Wangdus Lonpo.
