LEH, Nov 1: After virtual inauguration of traffic e-challaning by Lt. Governor of Ladakh, R.K Mathur yesterday on the eve of raising day celebrations of UT Ladakh; Traffic Police Ladakh today under the leadership of IGP Ladakh, S.S Khandare and under the guidance of DIG Ladakh Range, B.S Tuti launched e- challaning system by the SP Traffic Ladakh, M.R Giri to improve service access and transparency in the system.
SP Traffic while speaking on the occasion said it was a data-integrated system linked with ‘Vahan’ and ‘Sarathi’ applications which covers all major functions of the transport and traffic enforcement wings with a number of user-friendly features.
He expressed hope that the project would bring transparency, accountability and swiftness in the existing system and provide ease of operations for the traffic cops to increase visibility in operations by connecting all stakeholders through a common system to ensure data integrity, reliability and transparency in traffic management.
National Informatics Centre (NIC) Ladakh, UT Informatics Officer, Phunchok Paldan also spoke on the occasion regarding features and technicalities of e-challaning.
A handout stated that e-challan project is a comprehensive digital solution for traffic police.
The facility is being delivered through an android based mobile application and web portal.
The mobile app will provide instant access to information and ease of operation for the enforcement officers. Online challan payments will also ensure ease of compliance for violators.
On the 1st day Traffic Police challaned nine vehicles for different MV Act violations.
Tsewang Dorjay, Zonal Manager J&K Bank Leh and DySP Traffic Leh, Rigzin Sandup also spoke on the occasion.
