SRINAGAR, Jan 11: The temperatures in the Ladakh region plunged to the season’s lowest so far with a minimum of minus 15.5 degree Celsius recorded today.
Kargil recorded the coldest night of the season so far at minus 15.5 degree Celsius today. It was a drop of over two degrees in the temperature from the previous night’s minus 13 degree Celsius. The day temperature settled at minus one degree Celsius.
Leh town also shivered at a low of minus 14 degree Celsius, a slight increase from the previous night’s minus 14.7 degree Celsius. The day temperature settled at 6.4 degree Celsius.
Srinagar settled at minus 3.6 degree Celsius compared to minus 3.8 degree Celsius of the previous night. The day temperature settled at 9.4 degree Celsius.
The minimum temperature also increased in Pahalgam as it settled minus 5.8 degree Celsius against previous night’s low of minus 6.3 degree Celsius. The day temperature settled at 5.8 degree Celsius.
Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 7.2 degree Celsius, an increase of two notches from the previous night’s minus 9.2 degree Celsius. The day temperature settled at 4 degree Celsius.
Qazigund registered the minimum temperature of minus 3.2 degree Celsius, the mercury in Kokernag settled at minus 1.9 degree Celsius. Qazigund recorded maximum day temperature of 9.3 degree Celsius and Kokernag recoded maximum of 8.2 degree Celsius.
Kupwara, in North Kashmir, registered a low of minus 3.2 degree Celsius. The day temperature settled at 10.1 degree Celsius.
The MeT Department said there is possibility of isolated rains or snowfall in Kashmir valley.
