JAMMU, Mar 5: A delegation led by Member Parliament Ladakh (Lok Sabha), Thupstan Chhewang called on Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh affairs, Chering Dorjay, here today and discussed several important issues related to tourism development in the region.
After discussion on the issues, Dorjay along with delegation met the Minister for Tourism, Tassaduq Hussain Mufti and apprised him of various issues projected by the delegation before him earlier. He urged upon the Tourism Minister to issue necessary directions to the department regarding redressal of the tourism development related issues of the region.
Dorjay said that Ladakh region remains cut off from the rest of the country for a period of more than six months due to peculiarly of climatic conditions so any tourism or other development plan should be conceived and formulated according to the need and potential of the area. He said that tourism is the backbone of Ladakh economy which attracts people from all over the country and abroad as well, thus creating numerous employment opportunities to the youth.
The delegation comprised of Executive Councilor, Minorities Affairs LAHDC, Leh, Mumtaz Hussain, President, Merchant Association, Leh, Riyaz Ahmad, President, all Ladakh Hotel & guest House Association, Tashi Motup Kau.
