Ladakh Chamber president calls on Chairman ASSOCHAM

JAMMU, Feb 4: For discussing the problems being faced by the Industrial sector in the Union Territory of Ladakh, Manik Batra, Chairman ASSOCHAM, Jammu and Kashmir Council today met Tashi Gyaltson Khachu, Chairman Ladakh Chamber of Industry (LCI).
Dr MA Alim, Co-Chairman ASSOCHAM J&K Council and Amit Khajuria, Assistant Director, ASSOCHAM J&K Council were also present during the meeting.
Tashi Gyaltson expressed concern over un-flourished industrial sector in Ladakh with the ASSOCHAM representatives.
“Ladakh has so many local products, which need proper exposure in the national and International markets, and I am hopeful that ASSOCHAM, being a century old chamber having more than 4.5 lakh members will help Ladakh to boost its potential,” said Gyaltson Khachu.
After the detailed discussions about trade and industry of Ladakh, Batra and Dr Alim assured Khachu that ASSOCHAM would take up the issues to the national level.
“Ladakh has lot of potential and its products like, Apricot, cheese, vegetables are of best quality in the world. They need a proper exposure for their products. ASSOCHAM is always open for any trade and industry related issues and will also take up Ladakh’s issues with the UT government of Ladakh and with the Union government as well if required,” said Batra.
Dr Alim also assured Tashi that the ASSOCHAM would help them to build a strong market in Jammu as well as in other parts of the country with the help of vast membership of ASSOCHAM.
