Ladakh BJP team meets Union MoS for Home

New Delhi, Aug 17: A team led by Thupstan Chhewang, Member of Parliament and Chering Dorje, president BJP Leh called on Kiran Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs here today. The delegation discussed in dept about the demands of the people of Ladakh, including Union territory status with legislation, Inclusion of Bhoti language in the 8th schedule of Indian Constitution, opening of road for tourist to mount Kailash through Changthang Ladakh, Extention of Kargil Airport, Tunneling at Zoji La and Khardong La, Speedy construction of Chadar Road and opening of a Central University in Ladakh.
The team highlighted the most concerned issues with MHA including the development of border areas and BADP schemes, the mobile networks in the border areas, tourist permit for Tyakshi-Thang, Yarma-Gonbo, Lukung-Chushul to Loma Band via Tsagala. They appealed the Minister to bring back the SSB Battalion that was moved away from Ladakh few years ago as the move affected the families of the Jawans and the society.
Opening of women battalion in Ladakh scout was also demanded by the delegation. It also stressed on connection of roads in border villages and allowing of tourist to climb mountains in the border areas -the two main demands raised by BJP Ladakh to MHA. The team further requested to MHA that special preferences need to be given to the youth of border areas to create sense of national security in the minds of youth and preference be given to local unemployed youth in army for civil Laborer recruitment also.
The team invited the Minister to visit Ladakh and the border areas of Leh and Kargil in coming days.
