MENDHAR, Dec 27: Salwah village in Mendhar Sub Division of Poonch district lacks basic facilities, and locals are up in arms against the Administration.
The villagers alleged that the Government has failed to address the problems of common masses in the area as they have been a victim of official apathy since long.
Locals of village and other adjoining areas were ignored by the previous Governments on all fronts and have been a victim of Government neglect.
Locals said that the area has been deprived of all basic facilities. There is no proper supply of electricity and condition of the roads is worst.
“The Power Development Department (PDD) has never erected electric poles in adjoining areas. The electric cables have been tied on the trees and small wooden poles. There are some areas which remains plunged into darkness after rain, they added.
They further said, “We are disappointed with the PDD as the electric wires are fraught with danger and can lead to a mishap. These electric lines are passing through rooftops of the houses but the department is least bothered.
One Mohammad Ismail said that the roads in their areas were never macadamized and half of the village remains cut from rest of the district headquarter as the culverts have washed away in rains. He said need of the hour is to provide these rural masses every kind of facility so that they may not suffer. The villagers have appealed the Lt Governor and concerned authorities to look into these issues.
