Labour Deptt organizes awareness cum registration camp at Mansar

UDHAMPUR, May 11: In order to provide benefit of various schemes run by Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, a daylong awareness cum registration camp was held at Mansar in collaboration with Revenue, RDD and Health Departments.
More than 200 labourers participated in the camp. Assistant Labour Commissioner Udhampur, Aamir Choudhary informed the beneficiaries about various educational and assistance schemes being run by the department for the welfare of labourers and their family.
The event marked on the spot registration of prospective labourers and subsequent issuance of labour cards. Medical fitness certificates were also issued by a Medical Officer.
A similar camp was also held at Panchayat Seen Thakran where more than 120 labourers registered and availed labour cards.
During 2015-16, 1300 workers were registered leading to a total of 7641 registrations till date. Educational assistance to the tune of Rs 1, 35, 44, 500 and marriage assistances to the tune of Rs. 50 lakh was disbursed among the 3168 cases of district Udhampur.
BDO Majalta Dr. Aamil Khateeb, BMO Majalta Dr. Mohinder Sharma and other officer from concerned departments were present on the occasion.
