Labour Deptt organizes awareness camp for workers

JAMMU, Feb 2: In order to make the workers aware of their rights and welfare facilities, an awareness camp was organized by the Labour Department at Malik Market, Channi-Rama, in which large number of labourers participated.
On the occasion, officers of the Labour Department briefed the participants about various labour laws enacted for the upliftment of the labour class and how the labourers can avail benefits under different schemes.
While speaking on the occasion, Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Jammu informed the participants about various welfare scheme, which the Government of India has announced for well being of poor labourers.
He informed the participants about Atal Pension Yojna (APY), which is a pension scheme announced by the Government for citizens of India with primarily focus on the unorganized sector workers.
“Under the APY scheme, a guaranteed minimum pension will be given at the age of 60 years depending on the contributions made by the subscribers”, he added.
During the programme, pamphlets were also distributed among the participants.
Labour Officers of Jammu district also spoke on the occasion.
