SRINAGAR, Sept 13: The Committee on Estimates (EC) of Legislative Assembly headed by its Chairman Ch. Mohammad Ramzan today took serious note of delay in the settlement of forest clearances cases for the sanctioned road projects and directed the Public Works Department (PWD) authorities to come up with the reply about all the pending schemes, causes of their pendency which may be due to forest clearance or other reasons before the Committee within a week’s time for its scrutiny.
The legislators, Naresh Kumar Gupta, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Hakeem Mohammad Yasin, Harsh Dev Singh, G. M. Saroori, A. R. Veeri, Abdul Gaffar Sofi and Mohammad Yasin stressed upon the concerned officers to work with utmost zeal and gear up their field functionaries and pursue the cases vigorously pending in Forest Department and fix responsibility. The panel stressed for early completion of all under execution works within a stipulated time frame. It also asked them to start construction work on sanctioned road projects immediately.
Threadbare discussion was held on PMGSY and NABARD schemes and the Committee suggested for utilization of unused steel bridge material for the construction of other bridges.
The panel suggested for establishment of legal cell within the department so that the minor cases could be solved. It also stressed for filling up of vacant posts of different categories including Junior Engineers.
Among others, Commissioner/Secretary, PWD Tanveer Jehan, Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Chief Engineer R & B Jammu, Tahseen Mustafa, Chief Engineer PMGSY Jammu D. L. Sharma, Chief Engineer PMGSY Kashmir A. H. Sheikh, Managing Director JK PCC M. M. Gupta and other officers and engineers of PWD besides senior officers from Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
