KWO organizes ‘Sharda Cultural Programme 2025’

JAMMU, Feb 14: The Sharda Cultural Programme 2025, a spectacular celebration of Kashmiri heritage and talent today organized by Khardi Women’s Organization (KWO) in collaboration with Kashmir Hindu Saba (KHS) Pune.
The event brought together a vibrant showcase of music, theatre, literature and dance, keeping the cultural essence of the Kashmiri Pandit community alive.
The evening was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Chief Guest Mahesh (Dada) Landge, MLA of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
The Guests of Honor, Deepak Bagati, COO and President of Bajaj Finserv and Major General R K Mattu, VSM, SM, added further significance to the occasion.
Their presence reflected the recognition and encouragement that the Kashmiri Pandit community continues to receive for its rich contributions to society.
A mesmerizing live musical concert set the tone for the evening, featuring a soul-stirring performance by Ashish Bhat, a celebrated Folk Fusion Artist, Electric Pop Singer, Songwriter and Composer.
His music beautifully blended traditional Kashmiri melodies with modern fusion, leaving the audience captivated. Following this, the much-anticipated Kashmiri play, “ROVMUT BATTA”, written by Rakesh Roshan Bhat and directed by Rohit Bhat (of Vomed and TRN fame), enthralled the audience with its gripping narrative. The play powerfully depicted the struggles, resilience, and perseverance of the Kashmiri Pandit community, leaving a deep emotional impact on all present.
One of the major highlights of the evening was the recognition of Kashmiri Pandit women achievers with the Lifetime Achievement Award in various fields, including Technology, Art, Literature, Social Work and Education.
These accomplished women were honored for their exceptional contributions and dedication to their respective fields, symbolizing the strength and determination of the community.
Among the awardees, Prof Beena Budki, an esteemed educationist, social worker and recipient of the President’s Award, was honored with the APARJITA – Woman of the Year Award.
Her outstanding commitment to education and social work has made a lasting impact, and the recognition was a fitting tribute to her relentless efforts.
On the occasion, a book “Songs of Vistasta – I Sing” by Dr Chandrakanta Kantroo was officially released.
The book reflects the deep-rooted emotions, struggles and nostalgia of a displaced community while keeping the artistic spirit of Kashmir alive through poetry and storytelling.
