JAMMU, Aug 28: Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust (KVMT) is organizing ‘Kunwar Viyogi Utsav’, a week-long literary and cultural event, to be held in the memory of Sahitya Akademi awardee, late Dogri poet, Randhir Singh Jamwal from September 9 to 16.
While addressing a press conference held here at Press Club, Poonam Jamwal, KVMT founder, said that ‘Kunwar Viyogi Utsav’ will be an annual affair aimed at promoting Dogri literature, language and culture.
“In collaboration with Jammu University, the Trust will conduct a one-day seminar titled ”Kunwar Viyogi- Ek Chatiyaan Di Ladi’, highlighting the works and contribution of Kunwar Viyogi. During the event, the Trust will also award an annual scholarship of Rs 10,000 to the topper of the MA Dogri Department, special scholarship of Rs 10,000 to Woman Topper of MA Dogri and a special endowment of Rs 30,000 per annum to a research student who undertakes research work on Kunwar Viyogi or in Dogri language and literature.
She disclosed that Kunwar Viyogi’s award winning book ‘Ghar’, translated in Hindi language by eminent writer and Dogri Sanstha president, Shri Chhatrapal will also be unveiled at the event. Jamwal informed that papers on the works of Kunwar Viyogi will also be presented by well known Dogri personalities.
“A week long KVMT Charity Art Exhibition for the Girl Child titled: ‘Prem Prayas’, showcasing the cultural ethos of the Duggar Artists will also be launched in collaboration with Lotsava Rinchen Bzangpo Art Gallery, Zorawar Singh Auditorium, JU on September 9. Renowned artist, Suman Gupta will inaugurate the event with JU Vice Chancellor and special guests.
The Trust, in association with Dogri Sanstha will also present the Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Puraskar on September 10 at Abhinav Theatre, to upcoming Dogri writers. After the award ceremony, a Kavi Goshthi, in the memory of Kunwar Viyogi, will be held in collaboration with the Sahitya Akademi at Abhinav Theatre.
