KATHUA , July 31: The general body meeting of Kathua Vikas Manch (KVM) was held here, today in Mahajan Shabha Hall, Kathua. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Ram Murti Sharma, president of the Manch.
The agenda of the meeting included renewal of the registration of KVM, re-constitutions of Executive Body, review of current status of activities already undertaken by the Manch; Exploring ways and means for taking the issues lying in the pipeline to a conclusive stage; Identification cum prioritization of new development related projects to be undertaken by the Manch in near future and Membership derive.
Prof. Ram Murti Sharma while highlighting the achievements of the Manch expressed satisfaction over the progress achieved regarding the establishment of Engineering College, Polytechnic College, Inter State Bus Stand, foundation stone laying ceremony of Government Medical College Kathua at Kathua, sanction of bridge for connecting Ward No. 03-04 with Fruit Market Kathua and commencement of Development of Housing Colony Kathua.
The participants on this occasion urged for the early construction of parking zones, removal of encroachments and maintenance of proper sewerage disposal system with in the limits of Municipal Council Kathua. Most of the members demanded smart city and Kathua development authority status for Kathua city. A concern regarding removing the traffic congestion and improving poor electricity voltage was expressed during the meeting.
The demand of an early establishment of already sanctioned Mahatma Gandhi Maternity and Child Care Hospital at Kathua and construction of already sanctioned bridge for connecting Fruit Market with Maha Kalishwer Temple Krishna Colony for which tendering process has been completed was also raised by the members.
It was resolved unanimously that the renewal of registration, reconstitution of executive body of KVM and plantation drive may be processed at an earliest. Some of the speakers demanded the provision of toilet facilities by the land lords to their Jhuggi tenants residing in their land.
