REASI, Nov 22: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Reasi of SKUAST Jammu, organized farmers training programme on commercial scientific agriculture at village Chamayara of Reasi district.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Associate Director, Extension (ADE) of SKUAST-J, Dr R K Arora.
Dr Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi gave a detailed account on commercial scientific agriculture. He told the farmers that by commercial scientific agriculture, they could raise their socio-economic status. He recommended certain high yielding varieties of wheat in the region.
He elaborated on scientific cultivation of Rabi pulses and recommended certain tested varieties of chickpea and lentil in the region. He further said that there was immense scope of floriculture in the village as it is very near to Katra. He explained the scientific guidelines on marigold and gladiolus cultivation. He also elaborated on organic vegetable growing and suggested the farmers that they can fetch more prices by growing the organic vegetable crops.
