KVK organizes 11th Scientific Advisory Committee meeting

JAMMU, May 16: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu (SKUAST-J) conducted 11th Scientific Advisory Committee meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Dr Dilip K Arora, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J, who in his presidential address stressed on the need of close liaison between farmers, extension functionaries and KVK scientists to work upon emerging challenges to overcome constraints in agriculture production and productivity.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr KS Risam, Director Extension, SKUAST-J, emphasized on conducting need based and demand driven training programme. He congratulated the KVK team of good work and assured support in all the activities of KVK.
Dr Sanjay Swami, Programme Coordinator formally welcomed the members of SAC and carried out the technical programme by presenting action taken report, progress report of 2011-12 and Action plan for 2012-13. Officers from the line Departments and progressive farmers of Jammu district actively participated in finalization of Action plan of KVK Jammu.
Progressive farmers Tejinder Singh, Chowdhary Dev Raj, Ragunandan Khajuria, Shyam Gorkha, Joginder Lal, Vijay Singh, Hansraj and others represented the farmers community to bring forth the various issues related to farming.
On the occasion, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Science, Dr JP Singh and Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Dr SK Gupta, also shared their views.
Among others present were Chief Agricultural Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Sericulture Officer, Deputy Director Floriculture and other heads of line department.
At the end, Dr Vinod Gupta, SMS (Extension) presented vote of thanks.
