JAMMU, May 16: The inhabitants of Sarwal area opposite J&K Bank have urged the authorities to take immediate steps in plugging the leakages in PHE water pipes in the area as it has added to the problems of the people.
Rajeev Gupta a resident of the area and Sanjay Gupta, a social activist said that the water is entering the compounds of the residential houses and it has created insanitation in the area.
In case immediate steps are not taken the accumulated water in front of residential houses will lead to spread of epidemic, they said. The duo took the authorities to task for not taking any interest in plugging the leakages in the pipes saying that construction work under ERA is also going on in the area.
The two departments blame each other for leakages, they said while PHE alleges that Pipes were damaged after ERA started construction work in the area and the later deny the same with the result common masses have been put to problems.
The residents in an appeal to Minister of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Taj Mohi-ud-Din have sought his immediate intervention in the matter.
